The All New "SMA-1"

FOR THE KISS REBREATHER!!!!

ANNOUNCING

The Juergensen Marine SMA-1™

A New Generation of Diving!

We are very proud to announce the development of the ALL NEW Juergensen Marine "SMA-1" Electronics assembly for the KISS™ Rebreather!

For several years, Juergensen Marine, in association with Will Smithers of Digital Deep, has been building and installing digital electronics for Closed Circuit Mixed Gas Rebreathers, as well as building and designing new products for the civilian Mark 15/15.5 CCR's used in past years by the US Navy.

We have now applied the knowledge gained over the years to the KISS™ rebreather, to come up with the SMA-1™ Electronics Module.

Let's look at what's new about this system:

You'll notice that the SMA-1 Consists of three main parts, the POD, the Oxygen Sensor Connector, and the Solenoid.

On closer examination, you will see that the Pod contains a set of our Digital Electronics (user adjustable to maintain setpoints of .4, .7, 1.0, 1.2, or 1.4), a battery pack, switch assembly, and LED Light-Bar which shines through the Acrylic Housing to give the diver or observer precise information on the data being received by the O2 Sensor.

This data bar works just like the Primary Display on a Mark 15/15.5, in that it contains 6 lamps of different colors, which correspond to the following Loop ppO2 conditions (as compared to the user-defined Set-Point): Alarm, Low, 1 Low, Nominal (O), 1 High, and High.

But the heart of this system is the add-on Solenoid, which provides Oxygen flow on demand from the Electronic Module. This is designed to fit directly onto your KISS™ Rebreather to augment it's operation, or to act as a "fail-safe" in the event of a failure of the main Oxygen delivery system.

Simply insert the Oxygen Sensor into a P-Connector, hook up your Solenoid to the KISS™ and to a separate source of Oxygen, and go diving! The SMA-1™ will automatically track your Loop ppO2, and should it fall below the user-selected Set-Point, it will activate the Solenoid, injecting Oxygen into your loop. Once you have achieved your Set-Point, the electronics goes back into "Monitor" mode.

There is an external On/Off switch to activate the SMA-1™ as well as a embedded Magnetic Switch for calibration, which can be done with the unit sealed and mounted on the rebreather!

The SMA-1™ was developed at the behest of Mr. Phi Le, an active diver, and user of our products, as well as one of our front-line "Crash Test Dummies."

The Pod was built by Carl Saieva of Sartek, and the P-Connector pictured was built by Bob Howell. Of course, the Electronics were developed by us in association with our resident electronic guru and man of mystery, Will Smithers.

Once again, Juergensen Marine has harnessed the combined talents of a group of well-intentioned, but most likely demented, divers to build an insanely great product that has applications over a broad spectrum of rebreathing systems worldwide. No one can stop us! We will crush our enemies, see them driven before us, and hear the lamentations of their women!!!

Well... We hope that people at least like our stuff... ; -)

The unit is currently scheduled for Beta Testing on the KISS™ Rebreather in Mid-August 2002, and will be available for purchase in September of 2002. We have not yet set a price for this item.

If you are interested in purchasing one of these units, please send an e-mail to us at sma@electricfilm.com. Please include some information about your Dive Experience and Certification Level - we will create a master list of divers to notify when we have production units for sale.

Thank you!
